Tiger Hunts Giant Python in Corbett, Rare Wildlife Moment Captured on Camera

Tiger Hunts Giant Python in Corbett

A rare wildlife sighting at Corbett Tiger Reserve has taken social media by storm after a tiger hunting a python was caught on camera during a jungle safari in the Jhirna Zone. Filmed by tourists, the viral video shows the tiger carrying the giant python in its jaws before disappearing into the forest. While tigers are commonly seen hunting animals like chital and sambar, experts say sightings of a tiger hunting a python are extremely uncommon. The incident has drawn widespread attention among wildlife enthusiasts, offering a fascinating glimpse into the unpredictable nature of the wild.

How the Rare Sighting Unfolded?

Tiger Hunts Giant Python in Corbett

The incident occurred during a jungle safari in the Jhirna Zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve, where tourists spotted a tiger after it had hunted a giant python. The big cat was seen gripping the python in its jaws before walking calmly into the forest. Tourists, along with safari guides and drivers, recorded the rare moment, and the footage soon went viral across social media.

Corbett Park Warden, Binder Pal, confirmed that the video was filmed in the Jhirna tourism zone after the local staff were informed about the sighting. While videos of tigers hunting chital, sambar, and langurs are regularly recorded in Corbett, a tiger hunting a python is rarely witnessed or documented. Wildlife experts note that although tigers primarily prey on large mammals, they may opportunistically hunt non-venomous pythons when conditions allow, making this sighting an exceptionally uncommon moment in the wild.

The video has sparked excitement among wildlife lovers, with many calling it one of the most unusual moments ever captured in Corbett Tiger Reserve, highlighting the unpredictable behaviour of wild predators in their natural habitat.
